Since 2010, our dedication has been to the development of language learning programs for kids. As parents ourselves, we prioritize the exposure and benefit of our own children to the content and techniques before incorporating them into our program.
We employ a variety of enjoyable and fun teaching techniques such as videos, games, audio books, songs, stories, music, as well as offline activities like flashcards and worksheets. We believe that this comprehensive approach, encompassing both new and old teaching methods, provides the most effective way to learn a language, surpassing the limitations of mere apps or books.
How does it work?
1. The Immersion Method:
Learning a language with the immersion method means, letting children immerse themselves in a target language eliminating translations to avoid confusion for young learners who have not yet acquired reading or writing skills. You may wonder how small children can understand without the aid of translated words and sentences.
2. Repeated exposure:
We rely on a scientifically proven technique that emphasizes repeated exposure. Through this method, children gradually grasp the meaning of words and phrases. Dinolingo provides an environment that closely resembles real-life scenarios, immersing children in different forms of words and phrases without the need for reading.
For example, in our videos, each word or phrase is strategically introduced at different intervals to enhance memory retention. Let’s consider the word “dog” as an example. It is initially introduced as a standalone word in the first lesson, “Animals 1.” Later in the video, it appears in combination with other words like “cat” and “two dogs.” Subsequently, the dog reappears in subsequent lessons, such as “Colors 1” (as a “brown dog”) and “Food 1” (as “the dog is drinking water”). This repetition and contextual variety contribute to solidifying understanding. To further engage children, we encourage them to play games where the same “dog” appears in various settings. Additionally, the “dog” in various different settings is featured in audio books, tests, songs, and more, ensuring continuity across different learning materials. This repetition and continuity apply to all other words and conversational phrases, such as “hello,” “how are you,” “good,” and “goodbye,” which are presented many many times in different contexts throughout the program.
Similar to real-life language acquisition, children do not immediately learn words upon exposure. Even if they do, remembering them can be a challenge. Instead, children encounter and mentally connect with these words and phrases numerous times. They may observe things they initially don’t comprehend fully, but their ongoing engagement sustains their attention until they eventually grasp the language.
Dealing with Short Attention Span:
Our program is thoughtfully designed to cater to the unique needs of children, considering their limited attention spans. We understand that maintaining their engagement is crucial for effective learning. To achieve this, we incorporate various elements that make the learning experience enjoyable and captivating such as fun sound effects and visuals, which may occasionally be considered annoying by adults, but are highly appealing to children. These effects add an element of excitement and playfulness, creating an immersive environment that encourages active participation.
4. Engagements, Awards and Rewards:
Furthermore, we have implemented an award mechanism on both our website and app, where children collect stars and dinosaurs as they progress through the program. This system serves as a powerful motivator, incentivizing children to return, watch more videos, play more games, and continue their language learning journey. The sense of achievement and the rewards they earn further reinforce their engagement and drive to keep learning.

The science behind our method
1. Full Immersion
Children naturally learn a foreign language from DinoLingo videos because they hear common phrases and vocabulary hundreds of times without any interruption. The total immersion method is used on the program, where there are no translations or confusion for children. Imagination and repetition capture a child’s interest in learning and development.
2. Contextual Variation
Each of the foreign language learning words used in DinoLingo programs is presented to the listener in at least 4 different contexts. In addition, unlike other programs, DinoLingo repeats words intermittently and not just consecutively which triggers the child’s memory development.
3. High-Pitched Female Voices
Scientific studies show that babies and young children identify best with high-pitched voices, otherwise known as “motherese” or child-directed speech. We have worked with female and child actors with high-pitched vocals for this reason.
4. Pronunciation
DinoLingo language programs are recorded by native speakers of each language.
5. Subtitles
At DinoLingo, we know that most parents want to be able to read the captions in both the local characters of target language as well as the English (Latin) alphabet. We provide this to you as are the facilitator helping your child understand their new language.
6. Neonate Characters
DinoLingo uses animated characters that have baby-like faces. There are no monstrous, scary or wild characters in DinoLingo products since they are age appropriate.
7. Gradual Interval Recall
Each target word DinoLingo introduces is timed to be presented at different intervals, triggering memory (e.g. The word ‘car’ is presented in the 5th minute, the 10th minute, and again in the 30th minute).
8. Animism
Research shows that small children have a tendency to believe that all objects are alive (e.g. talking and dancing cars). DinoLingo features many lively objects that capture the children’s attention and curious imagination.
9. Sudden Surprises
To capture the little ones attention, DinoLingo uses some scientific techniques such as sudden appearance and disappearances, sudden pans, zoom-ins and unfamiliar sounds. This keeps a young mind interested and busy as they learn along.
