Horse Facts – Animal fun facts for children

DINOLINGO Horses are some of the prettiest and most popular animals in the whole world, and you can find them all over the world! While most horses are owned by people (instead of living in the wild), there are still some wild horses in the world today, and until about 6,000 years ago all horses were wild.

Nowadays, horses are used for all sorts of stuff! Horses are used on farms for pulling stuff around and for herding cattle, they are used by police in some places, they are used for horse racing, and of course they are used for just plain old fun! Horses can live to be about 25 to 30 years old, and they eat mostly hay and grass, but if you know a horse you’ve probably found that you can feed it some special treats like apples or carrots or even lumps of sugar, and these will make them happy.

Horses can eat as much as 25 pounds of food each day, and they will drink at least 10 gallons of water each day. Talk about a big appetite! No wonder horses have so much energy.
