Giraffe Facts – Animal fun facts for children

DINOLINGO  Of course, everyone knows about the giraffe’s long neck and about the cool pattern on their body, but what else is there to know about the tallest land mammal? As it turns out, there’s a lot of cool stuff! Giraffes live in Africa, and they like to live in places where there are a lot of acacia trees and bushes, because this is what they like to eat!

A lot of times, giraffes will drink a whole bunch of water at once, and this helps them live for a long time in dry areas. Even though giraffes look like they might be very easy prey for predators because of their long, lanky build, lions are the only predators who are a threat to giraffes, and giraffes can be very dangerous to lions!

Giraffes use their legs to protect themselves, and one kick from a giraffe can be strong enough to break a lion’s back or skull! Maybe the coolest thing of all about giraffes is that they hardly need any sleep at all. Giraffes only need between ten minutes and two hours of sleep each day. Imagine how much extra play time you could have with that many extra hours!
