Mumbai is a very innovative and growing place, somewhere to visit if you never decide to visit anywhere else in the world. There are an estimated 16,368,084 in the metro area of Mumbai, and a total of 12,478,447 in the city area of Mumbai. Mumbai is formerly known as Bombay, and is the capital of Maharashtra. It is one of the largest urban agglomerations in the world, and is the financial and business center of India. International airlines and railroads are the ways of which the world may connect with Mumbai, as it can spread over up to seven different islands. The land is very precious, because there is not much land to work with. Therefore, real estate is expensive.
To help the financial and environmental pressure on Mumbai a new city has been developed on the mainland across from the harbour. Navi Mumbai (New Bombay) is one of the biggest planned city projects of the continent. It is spread over several nodes; Navi Mumbai is connected by railroads to Mumbai. Mumbai most likely has the largest number of skyscrapers and slums in South Asia – an indicator of the disparity in living standards of its residents. Cuffe Parade, Nariman Point, Malabar Hills and the western coast is where you can find Mumbai’s skyscrapers, while the suburbs has many apartments being built right at this moment.
The skyscrapers of Mumbai are among the tallest in the world, and some of the most innovative one may ever come across in this generation. India is the world’s largest producer of feature films and Mumbai produces more films than Hollywood, so that is another huge economic booster for Mumbai, and India as a whole. The tallest skyscraper of Mumbai actually is two buildings that accompany each other but are separate; The Imperial I and The Imperial II which both stands at 817ft. The second skyscraper, Ruby Mills Tower, stands at 614ft with Lodha Bellissimo trailing at 610ft. The final tallest skyscraper of Mumbai is Sunshine Tower, standing at 591ft. In total, Mumbai has 1,614 buildings with another 225 under construction and 88 in plans of being built. Now that’s a lot of construction!
